Healthy Hair checklist

Hi there,
To effectively take care of your natural hair you need to know the basic things to have on hand. This list is a guide to what's truly important.
  • Moisture is super important to natural hair. The best source of moisture for our hair is water. Wetting your hair while you bathe or with a spray bottle will keep your hair hydrated. Moisture can also be gotten by using a good leave-in conditioner or a moisturiser. Look at the label, water must be the first ingredient listed.

  • A Moisturising Conditioner which can be used for co-washing and also to provide moisture after shampooing.

  • A Deep conditioner helps to moisturise, strengthen and nourish your hair.

  • Shampoo for washing your hair. A sulphate free shampoo is best because it wont dry out your hair. You can also have a shampoo with sulphates for use very rarely to thoroughly remove product build up.

  • Wide tooth comb for detangling your hair and also for combing.

  • Bobby pins for styling your hair.

  • Silk/satin scarves for preventing moisture loss while you sleep.

  • Spray bottle is a must have tool for adding moisture to your hair instantly.

  • Oils like olive, coconut, castor etc. are great for sealing in moisture, pre-pooing and for hot oil treatments.

  • Old T-shirt  for drying your hair without roughing it up.

  • Hair clips are great for sectioning your hair when you are detangling, braiding, twisting, styling etc.

  • Shower cap for your deep conditioning treatments, baggying and protecting your twists/braids/bantu knots etc.
I hope you find this helpful in your healthy hair journey.

    1. hi, Thanks for your comment. I created my spray bottle myself using an old bottle of body wash and the spray pump of a kitchen cleaner. You can use an empty body spray bottle like BOD for men.

DIY// HOW TO MAKE AN APPLICATOR BOTTLE

Hi guys,      I hope you are all doing well. I have missed blogging so much and I feel really good that I can now so it more often since my schedule is getting a bit less crowded. I also hope you like the new blog design.     If you live in Nigeria then you are aware that things are getting out of hand financially. The recession is hitting really hard and it seems no one is immune. Inspite of this I do not want my Fro to suffer so I am working on making a lot of homemade products and utensils to ensure my hair doesn't feel the strain of the harsh economy.    Today I will be showing you how to make an APPLICATOR bottle from any old plastic bottle you have at home. How to create a a sleek faux bun with short natural hair!!!!

Hi people!    So its been a while since my last post and I apologize. I have been all kinds of busy but I have got something really cool for you all today. I haven't really done any hairstyle posts on this blog  because in my bid to retain length I just cornrow and throw on a wig. I have been doing that for months with the random Afro-puff thrown in once in awhile but this week I just wasn't  in the mood for any of my wigs. I decided to finally do something I have been dying to do: a faux bun!! Its super easy just follow the steps below and you'll be rocking your faux bun in a couple of minutes :-)                                                                                                Preparing my hair I stretched my hair with my cornrows first. I took out the braids then moisturised and sealed: My stretched hair  I sectioned my hair into 2 parts. I started from the front section. I added some Ecostyler gel, brushed it lightly with a toothbrush and pulled
